Chubu Centrair International Airport Print
Chūbu Centrair International Airport often also known as Central Japan International Airport or Nagoya International is Nagoya's main airport located on an artificial island south of Nagoya.

The airport was opened in 2005 just in time for the Aichi Expo 2005 that was held in Nagoya that year. The airport replaced the previous Nagoya airport that is now known as Nagoya airfield that is now only used for some general aviation and the small regional carrier J-Air.

Centrair has become a favorite of international airline's of late offering cheap deals on flights to the airport. Competition has hotted up in the Japanese airport market with airport offering cheaper landing fees to attract new airline business to their airports.

Nayoya's Centrair is only 28 mins from the center of Nagoya via the the Meitetsu Tokoname Line train. Meitetsu's is a private rail company and their Nagoya Station is adjacent to JR's Nagoya Station, this gives you access to JR's Shinkansen bullet train which is probably the quickest way to get to any of the other major cities of Japan.
