Osaka

Osaka is the third largest city in Japan and while it was once known as the capital of Japan, today it is informally known as the cuisine capital of Japan. Just about everywhere you go in and around the city you will see food, whether it be a street vendor selling the Osaka favorite, octopus balls or five star dining there is so much to choose from and it is all delicious. Osaka is renowned for its fresh seafood and is home to many of the country’s best chefs. Whether its shopping in the huge malls and arcades, dining in the thousands of restaurants and bars, or just soaking in the interesting and diverse culture, Osaka is an experience like no other and there are not enough days to fully explore the wonders of this fun and fascinating city.

Kita (Japanese for north) is the northern part of central Osaka and is the location of Osaka’s central business district, the retail district of Umeda as well as the home of the famous Osaka-jo Castle.

Minami is the Japanese name for south and as such, the Minami ward is located in the south part of Osaka. Minami is where all the locals go to party especially in the entertainment area around Dotonbori Bridge and the hip “Amerikamura” American Village.

Bay Area
Formally a dockside wasteland the bay area of Osaka has been transformed into a vibrant entertainment district. The bay area is home to Universal Studios, the Suntory Museum, Japan’s largest aquarium and one of the worlds largest ferris wheels. A large island was also constructed in the area to be the home of various sporting facilities and parks.
