Roppongi is best known for its nightlife and as a hangout for western tourists and expatriates as most of the restaurants and nightclubs cater for English speaking tourists. There are also clubs here known as hostess clubs that cater for Japanese businessmen employing young western women to be with the businessmen, these places are expensive and sleazy so its best to make sure you are entering the correct place when venturing out for a few drinks.
Roppongi is also known as the home to a new shopping and dining complex known as Roppongi Hills as well as the Hard Rock Cafe or Tokyo City View and Mori Art Museum in Mori Tower. Not far south west from Roppongi is the famous Tokyo Tower that was styled after France’s Eiffel Tower and the Zojoji Temple. The easiest way to get to Roppongi is via the Hibiya Subway line to Roppongi Station.

Tokyo Tower
Opening in 1958, the Tokyo Tower stands 333 meters above the ground and is 13 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris in which is was inspired. Although it is higher, with the modern advances in steel fabrication the Tokyo tower weighs a little over 4000 tons compared to the French tower at over 7000.

Zojoji Temple
Zojoji temple is a buddist temple located in Shiba just east of Roppongi. The temple dates back to the 1300s but was moved to its present location in 1590. Much of the temple was damaged during World War II but has since been restored to its former glory.

Roppongi Hills is a new large shopping and entertainment centre situated in Roppongi. The massive complex is almost a suburb in its self with a host of facilities like theatres restaurants shops and a hotel.
