Tokyo Airport Lounge Guide: Narita & Haneda

Whether you’re arriving early, facing a long layover, or seeking a comfortable spot to relax before your flight, Tokyo’s airports offer a variety of lounge options to suit different needs and budgets.

Both of Tokyo’s major airports are served by a wide range of lounges. If you’re flying in the pointy end of the plane, you may find yourself in a lounge operated not by your airline directly, but by one of its alliance partners. ANA is part of the Star Alliance network, while Japan Airlines belongs to oneworld, so lounge access often depends on your airline’s global affiliations. Beyond the airline lounges, the airports also offer independent facilities used by smaller airlines and Priority Pass holders—such as the IASS lounges at Narita, and the Power Lounge, Sky Lounge, or TIAT Lounge at Haneda. Some of these also offer same-day paid access, though what’s included can vary. Not all paid lounges feature full buffets or complimentary alcohol, so it’s worth checking ahead. If all you need is a place to freshen up, it may be more economical to use one of the airport’s paid shower facilities and then relax at a bar or café near your gate.

Also note that some lounges may appear to be affiliated with major credit card brands like Amex, Diners Club, Visa, JCB, or Mastercard. However, it’s important to note that in Japan, access is often limited to cards issued by specific domestic banks. So, while you might be used to gaining lounge access with your credit card overseas, the same card—if issued internationally—might not grant you entry in Japan. Always check the fine print or confirm access details in advance to avoid disappointment at the door.
